Our discussion group based upon the book Men and Women in the Church will begin 6:30, October 3rd at the home of Kyle and Rachel Rogg. We have ordered books that should arrive within the week, hopefully by Saturday. Let me know if you would like to reserve one of the copies. (We will offer it to you for $10…a couple of dollars cheaper than one can get otherwise.)

Let me tell you a little bit about the book. As the title says it is a book about how men and women relate within the church. It discusses such topics as men and women in marriage, women in leadership, and what the bible teaches about propriety in worship. One valuable contribution of the book is that it does not draw too many conclusions nor does it state emphatically one way or the other what the right interpretations are. Instead, Dr. Sumner challenges the reader to think through their own presuppositions about what the Bible says and then takes the reader to what Scripture says, and doesn’t say, regarding the subject.

Keep these two things in mind:

1. It is OK not to agree with Dr. Sumner or with me during the discussion. The goal is not to convince anyone of a specific position but to expose everyone to various points of view so we can come to our own individual conclusions.

2. We are not going to make a decision regarding this subject immediately after reading the book. That will done through much more prayer and conversation. This is intended to be a community wide experience of learning, conversing and growing.
